Welcome to Old Mint Coin & Bullion's Carson City Page Being located directly across the street from the Now and Forever Famous former Carson City mint we try to keep an extensive inventory of Carson City Coins. View some of our offers on CC mint marked Coins here and see out listed inventory. If you are looking for something specific let us know and we'll help if we can. About the Mint. The Mint in Carson City opened for business in 1870 and ran almost continuously through 1893. In early 1885 the mint was closed and remained closed for 3 and 1/2 years until late 1889, hence the lowest mintage Carson City Morgan dollars are the 1885 and the 1889. Most of the 1885 mintage was stored and never circulated while most of the 1889 mintage was gobbled up by the people of the area after the 3 and 1/2 year absence of a Silver Dollar. The Mint is now the Nevada State Museum. The Nevada State Museum actively engages people in understanding Nevada's natural and cultural heritage. The Museum collects, preserves, and studies this heritage and shares it through exhibits, educational programs, publications and research. Highlights include exhibits on geology, history, natural history, and anthropology, as well as Coin Press No. 1, America's largest exhibited Imperial mammoth, a replica walk-through silver mine and ghost town, and two changing exhibit galleries. And of course a complete collection of one of every Carson City Minted Coin except the 1873 no arrows dime. Located at 600 North Carson Street in Carson City, the Museum is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Admission for adults is $3, seniors $2.50, and free for children 17 and under.
